R&D

We are passionate to invest in R&D and product development, as it is our priority to overcome the global challenges that our industry is facing today.

We launched our R&D center in 2011, investing in innovative products ever since. We have developed Oxygene and D-Clear concepts to meet and go beyond industrial needs, introducing a sustainable approach in the denim industry. We embrace multi-stakeholder collaborations to grow together within our ecosystem. We join forces with universities, designers, trade shows, suppliers and other brands to develop solid, truthful, sustainable solutions.

Sustainable Raw Materials

We are passionate about the sustainability of all our operations, beginning with sustainable raw material sourcing, adding value to the transparency and integrity of the entire value chain.

We have been a proud member of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) since 2013, which exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in, and better for the entire industry. Our good cotton usage has increased significantly by 36.3% from 2015 to 2016. We have been using organic cotton, produced without the use of toxic substances since 2007. We prefer recycled cotton and recycled polyester in our denim fabric production. We have passionately developed the D-Clear technology that allows us to use %40 less water in indigo dyeing and 83% less during the finishing process and reduce the volume of chemicals used by 94%. We are also preparing excitedly to participate in Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) and detox programs.

We aim to encourage the denim industry to prefer sustainable raw materials in production. We aim to make a positive impact on our industry, in our lives and on the environment that we live in.
As Calik Denim, we’re committed to providing transparency and traceability in the entire value chain in the journey of cotton: With our “From Seed to Product” framework, we provide information on all steps of our operations, from raw material to the supply of the products put on the shelves. Our operations are independently audited in order to do our part in protecting workers and the environment; as we focus on ethical sourcing, manufacturing, and labor practices. We are committed to maintain our high standars and provide transparency to our stakeholders.
